Brainwaves described

It is very important to understand how your brain works and how it contributes to your state of mind. Most of us are used to focus on our emotions trying to become happier or a more spiritual being. What most of you don’t know is that your brain waves and your subcionscious mind play a big part in this pursuit of happiness.
Let’s take a look at your brain wave frequencies and how they affect the state of mind. Each frequency is measured in cycles per second (Hz) and has its own set of characteristics. Each of these waves represent a specific level of brain activity and a unique state of consciousness.

Let’s begin with Beta. Its range is 14-40Hz and is the wave of your wide awake state.
Beta brain waves are associated with normal waking consciousness and an increased state of alert, logic and critical reasoning.
Beta brain waves are essential for your effective functioning throughout the day, but they can also translate into a stressful, restless and anxious mind.
Imagine Beta as that annoying little inner critic that gets louder and louder. Once it gets lounder, it means that your brain waves are high into above mentioned range and that stress is just around the corner or it has already arrived.
The majority of adults operate at Beta, this is why stress is the most common problem these days.

Next, Alpha, which ranges between 7.5 and 14 Hz. Alpha waves are met in your state of deep relaxation, usually when the eyes are closed. When you have a nice daydream or you practice a light meditation, your brain starts functioning in Alpha.
Alpha is the best time to start programming the mind for success and to improve learning, memory, concentration, visualization and imagination.
Alpha is the door to your subconscious mind; it lies at the very base or your conscious awareness. Imagine Alpha as your intuition. It gets clearer and more profound as you get closer to 7.5 Hz.

In the range of 4 to 7.5 Hz we meet Theta, the wave of sleeping and deep meditation.
Theta is the realm of your subconscious mind and can be experienced when you fall into sleep (you move from Alpha to Theta) and when you wake from a deep sleeping phase (you move from Delta to Theta and then to Alpha).
In Theta, you can experience a sense of deep spiritual connection and unity with the universe. Your most deep-seated programs are found in Theta. This is where you experience vivid visualizations, profound creativity, incredible inspiration and exceptional insight. Unlike other brain waves, Theta is silent.
Alpha-Theta border, between 7 and 8 Hz, is the optimal range for mind programming and using of the creative power of your mind. It is the mental state where you start creating your reality. At this frequency, your are still conscious about your whereabouts, but your body is in a deep relaxation state.

Delta, found between 0.5 and 4 Hz, is the slowest of the frequencies discovered so far and it is experienced in deep, dreamless sleep or in very deep, transcendental meditation where your awareness is fully detached.
Delta is the land of your unconscious mind, the gateway to the universal mind and the collective unconscious. Information received in Delta are unavailable at the conscious level.
Deep sleep, or Delta brain waves, is very important in the healing process, it is linked with deep healing and regeneration, especially after a health problem. Opposite, not having enough deep sleep may affect your health in many ways.

Last, but not least, we have Gamma brain waves, found at frequencies above 40 Hz. Gamma is the latest discovered brain wave and, despite little knowledge about this state of mind, initial research shows that Gamma waves are associated with bursts of insight and high-level information processing. It was demonstrated that when your brain goes into Gamma state, you start experiencing ‘slow-motion movies’, for example during car accidents.
